ABSTRACT
There are two things I would like to present in this overview. First, I would like to back up a little and consider the evolution of what has brought us to this meeting today in the context of the progress we have made in our knowledge of drilling wastes. Then I would like to reflect on some of the papers that have been presented here on offshore matters, and mention some of the things that stand out as being new, interesting, valuable, or usable information. I want to highlight findings that I think add to our knowledge, and have a look to the future for a few topics where more work may be needed.
