ABSTRACT
4.1 OVERVIEW
Urbanization affects many resources and components of the environment in urban areas and beyond. Even though the discussion in this report focuses on water, brief discussions of some connected issues, or other environmental compartments interacting with urban water, cannot be avoided. Thus, for the sake of completeness, the discussion covers, in various degrees of detail, the impacts of urban areas on the atmosphere, surface waters, wetlands, soils, groundwater and biota.
