ABSTRACT

Abstract The results of the measuring of prestressed cable forces of cable-stayed bridges in Cze choslovakia have shown that the ring-dynamometers using for example magnetoelastic system or the dynamometers with vibro-wire gauges allowed to receive precise results ± 2 % but we need to place the equipment in the structures during the erection. The frequency-vibration method is cheaper, the measurements can be repeated with the same accelerometer in various cables but the results show differences of max. ± 7 %. This accuracy is much higher if we repeat and compare our measured forces during traffic long-term to receive more information about the serviceability of cable-stayed bridges, as well as information about the change of cable forces during construction or during traffic.
