ABSTRACT
The approach using the negative b inomia l c l a im number dis t r ibu-
t ion is, par t icular ly i n the context of risk theory considerations,
associated wi th the name of P o l y a . H e , together wi th Eggenberger
(1923), derived it for the contaminat ion model . The models based
on the Po isson law and the negative b inomia l are often referred to
briefly as the Poisson case and the Polya case.
