ABSTRACT
This interface can bear flow rates up to 1 mL/min, but 0.1-0.5 mL/min is optimal for forming a stable liquid jet. The upper limit depends on the water content of the mobile phase; It increases, reducing water percentage. Besides those mentioned, another benefit of PB over all other LC-MS interfaces is that it can be coupled to any mass spectrometer, such as fast atom bombardment (FAB), liquid secondary-ion MS (LSIMS), laser desorption (LD-MS), ion trap (ITMS), or magnetic sector, without or with minor modifications.
