ABSTRACT
The API-MS interface can be divided into three steps: (1) nebu~ lization of a sample solution, (2) liberation of ions from droplets, and (3) transportation of ions from atmospheric~pressure ionization source region into the vacuum and mass analyzer of the mass spectrometer. We consider the steps for ESI, lSI, and APCI techniques one by one.
