ABSTRACT

Before any contractor's personnel or equipment arrive on the site, it is wise to establish personal contact with each landowner or occupier who is affected by the scheme. so that points of access, office sites, pipe storage, working space, etc., can be agreed. The programme of work can usually be adjusted to avoid unnecessary damage to growing crops, and a basis of assessment of any damages can be agreed. Where relevant, a record should be made of the condition of the land and fences before any work starts. This record should be agreed with each owner or occupier.
