ABSTRACT

In the first three chapters we have presented the equations relating rates of chemical reaction to observable quantities such as, temperature and composition, demon strated the origin of these equations, and shown how they may be used in the interpretation of experimental information on kinetics. We now turn our attention to analysis of the devices in which chemical reactions are conducted, both in the laboratory and in large-scale operation, and we shall see that to a great extent such analysis hinges on physical as well as chemical factors.
