ABSTRACT
The elastic and viscous mechanisms involved in the viscoelastic responses have traditionally been modeled by combining ideal elastic elements, repre sented by springs, and ideal viscous elements, represented by dashpots. We shall refer to this treatment in Chapter 10; here we use another approach,
based on the analysis of the experimental curves, to express the viscoelastic functions in terms of the retardation and relaxation spectra.
