ABSTRACT

The catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide is one of the most cOlnprehensively studied and best understood catalytic reactions. Owing to the fact that, ,vith rare exception, chemisorption of CO is nondissociative under the conditions of catalytic oxidation, this latter reaction is a relatively simple process that has been frequently applied as a catalytic test reaction. It served as the basis for studies of fundamental problems of catalysis, e. g., verification of the electronic theory of cheluisorption and catalysis on semiconductors or the reduction-oxidation Inechanism of catalytic oxidation.
