Another important property is stiffness, expressed as the Young's modulus, and having the same units as strength. Although the importance of a high Young's modulus might not be as intuitively obvious as strength, a structure swaying appreciably in a high wind or a ladder shaking when climbed are common examples of less than desirable stiffness.
