ABSTRACT

IARC MONOGRAPH 32 GENERALLY REPORTED TO BE NON-MUTAGENIC TO SALMONELLA TYPHIMURIUM; HOWEVER, IN ONE STUDY REPORTED TO BE MUTAGENIC TO SALMONELLA TYPHIMURIUM IN PRESENCE OF HIGH CONCENTRATION OF AN EXOGENOUS METABOLIC SYSTEM. GAVE NEGATIVE RESULTS FOR DIFFERENTIAL SURVIVAL USING DNAREPAIR-PROFICIENT/-DEFICIENTBACILLUS SUBTILIS STRAINS. DID NOT INDUCE DNA REPAIR, CHROMOSOMAL ABERRATIONS OR SISTER CHROMATID EXCHANGE IN CULTURED MAMMALIAN CELLS. DID INDUCE MUTATION IN EXPERIMENT IN HUMAN CELLS IN CULTURE IN PRESENCE OF EXOGENOUS METABOLIC SYSTEM, AND INDUCED SISTER CHROMATID EXCHANGE IN CHINESEHAMSTER BONE-MARROW CELLS IN VIVO.
