ABSTRACT

It has been stated that the overall objective of every maintenance program should be to make the greatest possible contribution to the long-term profitability of the company. To maximize this contribution, it is necessary to know where the organization currently stands and what improvement possibilities exist. Measures of performance need to be made and evaluated. Improvement should be taking place. For the overall engineered maintenance management program to have high performance, there must be high performance in the II ingredients that comprise the system. These ingredients are organization, control systems, estimating and measurement of maintenance work, inventory control and use of maintenance materials, planning and scheduling, predictive and preventive maintenance, diagnostic techniques, application of the digital computer, training of maintenance employees, compensation of maintenance employees, and reports to management.
