ABSTRACT
G ro undw ater is a replenishable but finite resource. It is exploited on a large scale in order to meet the ever-increasing demands for agriculture, municipal, industrial, recreational, and other needs. It has played a major role since ancient civilizations not only in meeting the basic human needs but also in bringing about considerable changes in food productivity and raising the quality of life by way of providing safe drinking water.
