ABSTRACT

Tetrasomic Inheritance The genetics of tetrasomic inheritance in tetraploid (cultivated) potato is very unique and far more complex than diploid genetics (Wricke and Weber 1986). At a diallelic locus, a diploid can have three classes of genotypes, e.g. AA, Aa, and aa; in contrast, a tetrasomic tetraploid may have five classes, A AAA, AAAa, AAaa, Aaaa, and aaaa.
