ABSTRACT
Potato genetics is very complicated because of high heterozygosity, polysomic polyploidy, and quantitative inheritance of key breeding traits (Watanabe et al. 2002; also Chapter 4). Therefore, introducing a desirable trait in cultivated potato is a time-consuming process (10 to 15 years) with traditional breeding (Ross 1986).
