ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters, the fundamental theory of the finite strip method has been discussed in detail. A variety of approaches and strips has been introduced with their applications in analyzing different types of highway bridge. With the above knowledge, combined with skills in bridge design it is not difficult for engineers to apply the available finite strip computer software to their projects. However, beginners may be troubled by some problems, such as how to select a proper approach for a given bridge, and how many finite strips and series terms should be taken. This chapters aims to guide those who are new to finite strip analysis, with advice based on the investigations and numerical examples previously described.
