ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT This report summarizes a serie of studies for the realization of a bi-directional vibration control system (Tuned Liquid column damper with period adjustment equipment:LCDPA) which can be used to provide reductions in the movements of a steel high rise building loaded by wind or earthquakes of medium strength. At first, the effectiveness of this system was proved through theoretical and experimental study using a small simple model in a laboratory; secondly, this vibration control system was applied for a steel high rise building of 112 m and gained good results.
