ABSTRACT

Abstract Water is very essential for agricultural development in the state of Kuwait, particularly for the urban landscape and greenery aspects. Kuwait is an arid country with scarce rainfall and limited water resources. Fresh water consumption from desalinated seawater units was calculated in 1995 to 212.4 million cubic meter with total price cost of 539.496 million dollars.Brackish water production was also estimated in 1995 to 99.60 million cubic meter with a total price of 35.86 million dollars. The treated wastewater available for the greenery and urban landscape was determined with efficient piping systems at 107.80 million cubic meter for the price of 19.404 million dollars. The price cost for desalinated seawater is relatively high for agriculture development use, whereas the brackish and treated wastewater can be cost effective for agricultural production in Kuwait.
