ABSTRACT
This chapter explains the theory of fluid shock absorbers and accumulators; other chapters are sprinkled with examples of the art. For instance, the cushioning of conventional cylinders is covered briefly in Chaps. 6 and 16, and some applications of accumulators are highlighted in Chap. 10.
