ABSTRACT
Theory and design of major static and dynamic seal types are covered in Chaps. 2124. This new Chapter 25 highlights several designs that are unusual because of the severity of the applications.
Examples described here include solid rocket booster 0-rings, oil well down-hole seals, aircraft bootstrap reservoir and landing gear seals, applications for low and high extremes in temperature, metal static seals for high vacuums, and special controlledclearance seals for extreme pressure cylinders and valves.
