Recall that we discussed in Chap. 10 how already developed are pumps for liquid concrete; cylinders to tilt high-speed trains inward on curves; high-force compactors for toxic wastes; high-speed compressed-air actuators (called "smart actuators") for motivating Jurassic beasts; extreme-pressure water injectors for dredging ship channels; moderate-pressure injectors for watering golf greens, irrigating farmland, and even detonating battlefield mines; extremely large hydraulic cylinders for lifting steel drawbridges, large buildings, and at-sea oil rigs; hydraulically driven diggers for tunnels under the English Channel; and high-flow pumps for delivering a missile's liquid hydrogen and oxygen. Incidentally, a missile pump could fill your swimming pool in minutes.
