ABSTRACT

The Gap, Nordstrom and Kohl's are building out new distribution cen­ ters to meet their logistics and fulfillment needs generated by the adoption of the e-business model. Others, such as Home Depot, Circuit City and UK grocer Tesco are making their stores perform double duty as warehouses and distribution hubs. And many, including Kmart and Wal-Mart, are temporarily farming out the entire fulfillment process.
