ABSTRACT
The discussion then moves on to the delineation between tasks and modules and h o w a typical communications system is implemented. A n example o f a Layer 2 switch is used to outl ine the various modules-including the device driver, pro tocol tasks and sys tem/management modules. The chapter concludes w i t h a description of the inter-module interfaces, including the use o f standards-based and proprietary interfaces.
