ABSTRACT
In the preceding chapters we have considered stationary flows and patterns that are developed due to a monotonic instability of the static equilibrium. However, systems with an interface like liquid layers with an open surface are prone to both monotonic and oscillatory instability. These, and hence wavy interfacial motions, shall be discussed in the present chapter, in particular when the Marangoni effect acts at the interface.
