ABSTRACT

Decision making patterns (viii) decisional patterns applied by inter-governmental centres; (ix) decisional patterns applied by extra-governmental centres. A separate case occurs when both the continental shelf and the Exclusive Eco

nomic Zone are claimed and the former is wider than the latter. In this case a zone ranged between the outer limit of the Exclusive Economic Zone and the outer edge of the continental margin is included in the ocean area but only its

seabed and subsoil are covered by a national jurisdictional zone. As a result, the whole ocean environment extending beyond the outer edge of the continental margin plus the water column and sea surface of the zone extending from this boundary and the outer edge of the Exclusive Economic Zone, are of inter national status.
