ABSTRACT
Illegal logging in tropical forests has become a hot topic in conservation and development policy in recent years. Major international bodies such as the G8, the World Bank, and the United Nations Forum on Forests have identified illegal logging as a serious threat to forests around the world (G8, 1998; Callister, 1999; UNFF, 2002).
