ABSTRACT
Table 5 shows several FR-HIPS formulations using a 1:1 mixture of Dechlorane Plus and BFR-1 by % halogen (5.85% of each) where the % antimony oxide varies from 2% to 6%. The most effective level of antimony oxide seems to be 4%, which gives a UL-94 V-0 at 3.2 mm. The lowest afterglow is also at the 4% level. The addition of 1% of a silicon material decreases the afterglow in the UL-94 test and gives a UL-94 V-0 at 3.2 mm in all the formations.
