ABSTRACT

A more satisfactory technique is that used by the UK Open University, which is to make programmes illustrating particular points in a television studio. However, I have some reservations about the need to produce programmes that are as polished as those provided by the entertainment networks. I think there is a case for showing that experi ments do not always work the first time and much could be learned by the students watching how the lecturer discovers the fault and corrects it-as they do in a live lecture. This point, together with other aspects of the use of television and video techniques, is discussed again in §2 .6 .
