ABSTRACT

During the last 25 years, a lot of publications concerning catalytic, photocatalytic, photoelectrochemical, photophysical and absorptive properties of the nanostructured semiconductors of different types have been reported. Many books and reviews, for example [1-15], presented analytical overviews both on scientific results and practical application of nanosized semiconductor materials, first of all on the titanium dioxide (Ti02). In the previous chapters of this book there were described new interesting data on photoelectrochemical (PEC) and photocatalytic systems based on pure and doped Ti02, chalcogenide materials, CdS, hematite, oxide electrodes modified with tiny metal particles, etc. Progress in all these directions has been attained in many laboratories all over the world dealing with nanocrystalline particles, nanocolloids and nano-structured bulk electrodes.
