ABSTRACT
A 37-year-old woman with a history of hypothyroidism successfully conceives after in vitro fertilization. She undergoes an ultrasound at 15 weeks of gestation, shown in Figure 22.1, which demonstrates a female fetus with an omphalocele containing the liver. All other organ systems appear normal. Maternal serum alpha fetoprotein (AFP) levels are normal.
