ABSTRACT

A 1-day-old baby girl is transferred to your neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) after two episodes of bilious emesis. The baby was born by spontaneous vaginal delivery at 35 weeks of gestation to a 28-year-old G1P0 woman. The mother had evidence of polyhydramnios and questionable dilatation of an intestinal loop on fetal ultrasound performed at 22 weeks of gestation. However, she was noncompliant with prenatal appointments, and no further ultrasounds were performed.
