ABSTRACT

A 3-year-old boy presents to the emergency department with a 24-hour history of intermittent, severe, cramping abdominal pain. The episodes last approximately 10–15 minutes, during which he writhes in pain. He is comfortable between episodes. He has had two bouts of non-bilious emesis and has not passed any stool since the pain started. His history is significant for acute myeloid leukemia in remission, and he is scheduled for port cath removal in 10 days. He has no prior abdominal operations. You are consulted for suspicion of intussusception.
