ABSTRACT

A 14-year-old, healthy, Caucasian girl is referred to you by her pediatrician, after detecting a right paramedian neck mass on routine physical examination. The patient had felt a “lump” in her neck for quite some time, but was not bothered or concerned by it. She is otherwise in excellent health. On evaluation in your office, you encounter a well-appearing young woman. Her vital signs are normal. There is a discrete 2-cm mass in the right thyroid lobe.
