ABSTRACT

A previously healthy, 2-year-old, Caucasian girl is brought to the emergency department for a 3-day history of increasing right buttock redness and discomfort. She has no fever and is moving, eating, and stooling well. However, the right buttock is extremely sensitive to touch. She has had no previous skin or soft tissue infections. She lives with her parents and four siblings. Her 12-year-old brother had a “boil lanced” in an urgent care clinic the previous week.
