ABSTRACT

A pregnant woman and her husband are referred to you for fetal consultation. The patient is a healthy 29-year-old G1P0 Caucasian woman who conceived naturally. A screening fetal ultrasound at 20 weeks of gestation raised suspicion for a left congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) in a male fetus. A dedicated ultrasound, performed by a perinatologist the following day, shown in Figure 7.1, confirmed the diagnosis. There is no family history of congenital anomalies, chromosomal syndromes, or genetic diseases.
