ABSTRACT
W e have already i n Section 1.3 sketched the use of graphs to repre sent key features of the relations between variables. In the present chapter we develop this idea i n more detai l , concentrat ing on those aspects that are needed later i n the book and not a t tempt ing to give a systematic account. W e then consider a number of other aspects of the interpretat ion of models and parameters.
