ABSTRACT
The progressive view is that managers are responsible for making their subordinates consider themselves as part of the organization so that they, in turn, will feel responsible for helping the organization accomplish its goals. To achieve this objective managers must use their power to see to it that employees achieve the fullest satisfaction in their work, i.e., to help them meet certain psychological or ego needs.
