ABSTRACT

The stability of fuels has been well researched over the past decades (Mushrush et al. , 1989; Pedley et al. , 1989; Hardy and Wechter, 1990; Hazlett et al., 1991), and there have been inroads made into the chemistry of fuel stability or incompatibility. Moreover, it is the general consensus that it is the polar, i.e. heteroatom, constituents of feedstocks that are responsible for the formation of such sediments.
