Although pediatric cancer is one of the most common serious diseases among children and adolescents under 16 years o f age in developed countries,1 the most frequent pediatric malignant diseases, leukemias and central nervous system tu mors are not in the therapeutic field of the pediatric surgeon. However, pediatric surgeons have always played a leading role in the diagnosis, staging and treatment o f solid tumors.
