ABSTRACT

Certain histologic subtypes of STS tend to occur in children, the most common of which is rhabdomyosarcoma, usually arising in head and neck or genitourinary sites. Other subtypes of STS associated with pediatric patients include synovial, epithelial, and alveolar STS. Common types o f STS in young adults include embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS), synovial sarcoma, alveolar sarcoma, and desmoid tumors. The median age at diagnosis o f patients with various histologic subtypes of STS is provided in Table 4.1.
