ABSTRACT

Abstract /*"Schtzosaccharomyces pombe is a simple model organism ideal for study o f conserved proteins ^ o f interest. The genome o f S. pombe encodes seven proteins containing F-BAR domains,

k * J including four scaffolding proteins o f the pombe cdclS homology (PCH) family and three Rho GTPase activating proteins (RhoGAPs). While C dcl 5 has been the most thoroughly studied at the molecular level, several others have not been characterized at all. Five o f the seven proteins localize to the actomyosin-based cytokinetic ring and two (C dcl 5 and Imp2) play described roles in cytokinesis. S. pombe provides an excellent system in which to study this protein family and will become especially attractive as the field moves toward questions o f regulation and cooperativity between F-BAR family members.
