ABSTRACT
The release of mosquitoes that are genetically modified to destroy the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum is being considered as a possible method for malaria control. If many scientific questions concerning the possible success of such a high-tech method have not received an answer yet, it seems also crucial to question the validity of such a method and also the links between technology and science in our societies.
