ABSTRACT
I) INTRODUCTION Approximately 500,000 long-term venous access catheters are placed in the United
States annually. It is incumbent upon all house officers to maintain expertise on a variety of topics related to the diagnosis and management of complications re lated to long-term venous access catheters to minimize patient morbidity and maxi mize the life span of these devices.
