ABSTRACT
Furthermore, the incidence of E S R D has been steadily rising. Over the period
from 1985 to present, the number of patients with E S R D increased from 84,797 4 to
more than 300,000, the majority of which are maintained on hemodialysis.5 Na-
tionally the E S R D population continues to grow by approximately 7-12% per year.
