Screening tests must fulfill several attributes in order to be effective and merit universal adoption in the preventive care armamentarium o f suggested tests (Table 2.2). Essentially, any cancer screening test must be technically feasible, have accept able detection rates and positively impact the treatment and outcomes o f the cancer in question. For women, the only currendy accepted gynecologic cancer screening tests are mammograms for breast cancer and Pap tests for cervical cancer. There is no widely accepted screening test for ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, Fallopian tube, vulvar, or vaginal cancers. The objective o f this chapter is to present the data on cancer screening for the gynecologic malignancies.
