ABSTRACT

Anatomy Mandibular reconstructive procedures can be grouped according to the princi

pal anatomic regions of the mandible: the condyle and ascending ramus, the hori zontal ramus and the symphyseal region (Fig. 34.1). The condyle with the coronoid process and the ramus constitute the vertical portion o f the mandible. Therefore this region is important to restore the vertical height o f the face. Connecting the vertical and horizontal regions is the angle of the mandible. The horizontal region (the body of the mandible) then continues on in a curvilinear fashion to incorporate the symphyseal regions.
