ABSTRACT

IL-10 and Murine SLE The suspicion that IL-10 may play a role in SLE was boosted early on by a study in SLE

prone NZB/W FI mice.6 ZB/W FI mice spontaneously develop a SLE-like disease character ized by anti-dsDNA auto-antibodies and glomerulonephritis. 7 Ishida and coworkers found that treatment of NZB/W FI mice from birth with anti-IL-10 mAb improved 34-week sur vival from about 10 to 80%.6 his improved survival correlated with decreased anti-dsDNA auto-antibodies, decreased proteinuria, and decreased incidence and severity of glomerular lesions in anti-IL-10 treated mice.
