ABSTRACT

The Anatomy of the Cardiac Lymphatic System3,7 The cardiac lymphatic system does not differ in principal from that in most other tissues.

It originates from the interstitium as closed, blind-ended, finger-like vessels. These terminal lymphatics or lymphatic capillaries, join and build up collecting lymphatics, which in turn form larger lymphatic vessels ending in a few main trunks, which run on the epicardial surface of the heart, and finally drain into mediastinal lymph nodes.
