ABSTRACT
A lthough the natu re o f procedures perfo rm ed in o rthoped ic and urologie su r gery differ, they have in com m on the po ten tia l to be often associated w ith b lood loss, and hence the need for allogeneic transfusion . In add ition , procedures in urologie and orthoped ic surgery are often elective, and m any such patients ex press interest in predeposit autologous b lood donation. These similarities are shown in Table 11.1.
